Taconic Resources for Independence, Inc (TRI) advocates for the civil rights of individuals with
disabilities in Dutchess County and empowers them to lead self-directed lives with independence and
dignity. TRI promotes self-help, equal access, peer role modeling, personal growth, and empowerment
for persons with disabilities. In this course, the staff of its Special Education Advocacy Program will
present an overview of services/educational entitlements, systemic challenges faced and strategies available to youth and their families in accessing needed educational services and being prepared for the transition from school to adult life.
